TELEPHONE MANNERS

1.  Continuation of class manners and discipline should be extended when talking over the phone to your Instructor.  I.e. use "Sir / Ma'am".
2.  Students should always be kind when discussing school information over the phone.


RESTAURANT MANNERS
A.   Students should arrive before the Instructor.
B.   Students should rise and bow when the Instructor arrives.
C.   Students should remain standing while the Instructor is seated; they then shall be seated in order of seniority.
D.   Senior students should be seated next to the Instructor.
E.   Students should never smoke in the presence of the Instructor.  Drinking is allowed with prior permission from the Instructor. When drinking, turn to side opposite instructor and any master present.
F.   Students must not begin eating until the Instructor begins, or, gives his permission.
G.   Always use two hands when passing things to another person.
H.  Students must wear proper attire when dining in the presence of a Grand Master; e.g. Suits and ties for men, dresses, suit or appropriate pant outfits for women.
These manners are applicable in all situations, including parent and senior family members.


GENERAL SITUATIONS IN THE DOH JAHNG
1.  When you enter school, take off hat and fix your clothes. Carry bag to your side, not over shoulder or dragging it. You must salute instructor at the office before entering Doh Jahng.
2.  Pick up attendance card before entering Doh Jahng and then take it to return box.
3.  When you enter the Doh Jahng, salute flags and bow to other school members.
4.  Go to locker room, change uniform and then stretch.
5.  Five minutes before class begins, meditate so that mind, body and spirit are ready for practice.
6.  If instructor is not in class on time, the senior member may ask instructor for permission to begin class.
7.  LATE ENTRANCE:  If you arrive after class has begun, salute the flags and remain at attention by the door until you are recognized by the Instructor.  Ask for permission to enter the Doh Jahng.  AFTER the Instructor recognizes you, bow to the Instructor then walk behind the members of the class and into the dressing room.  After you have put on your uniform, stand at the door to the Doh Jahng and ask the Instructor for permission to join class.
8.  When you practice, always concentrate and follow instructions. Kee Hahp loudly and always show respect to others.
9.  After class is over, if the Doh Jahng is dirty the senior member may ask students to help clean.
10.Don’t make noise while in waiting room when class is in session.
11.Before you leave school, you must come to the office and say goodbye to your master and instructor.


ENTRANCE OF A SAH BOM NIM or Chief Instructor
When the Sah Bom Nim or Chief Instructor enters class, the senior-most member of the class will call the class to attention "Chah Ryot" (attention) and command "Kyoung Reh" (meaning bow, always from the attention position). 
The class will then recognize the Sah Bom Nim or Chief Instructor with a bow.


A respectful relationship between Instructor and student and between senior members and junior members must always be maintained in and out of the Doh Jahng, and, in and out of your Doh Bohk (uniform).



RECEIVING INSTRUCTION
Any time the Instructor or any senior member offers instruction or correction to a junior member, the junior member must stand at attention.  The junior member must show respect and apprecia­tion afterward by bowing and saying thank you.  A junior member should not correct a senior member in the Doh Jahng.

A.  If a student has a question during class, he/she must first raise his/her hand.  After being recognized by the Instructor, he/she must stand at attention, bow, and then ask the question. 
After receiving the answer, the student must bow and say, "Thank you, Sir / Ma'am".


B.  If a student has to be excused from class to go to the rest room or due to illness, the student must first raise his/her hand.  After getting permission from the Instructor, the student must bow and then proceed



ENTERING THE INSTRUCTOR'S OFFICE
1. Never walk into the Instructor's office unannounced.  Always knock first at the door and wait for instructions.
2. Upon seeing the Instructor, the student bows from either the attention position or an "at ease" position.
3. The student must remain standing until recognized by the Instructor.
If asked to be seated, the student may sit (When sitting, don’t cross legs or lean back or to the side and don’t cross your arms).  The student may then begin conversation.
4. The student must always stand at attention during conversation unless otherwise instructed by the instructor.
5. All conversations between Instructor and student should always maintain a tone of respect, and the words "Sir / Ma'am" should always be used regardless if you are in or out of your uniform.
6. The student must bow before exiting the office.
